Our approach
We learn from the individual first. For some people a solution comes quickly; for others it takes time. Once we understand what someone truly wants in life, we work with everyone who supports them to make it happen.
We take the time to understand the person — their desires, their dreams and their own choices — before anyone decides what "support" should look like.
Family, friends and staff — whoever the person chooses. We bring everyone together so support is consistent wherever the person is.
Our goal is always greater independence — not babysitting. We help people live their own lives, with the right support at the right time.
A big part of our work is communication — the way a person communicates, and how the people around them understand and respond.
When others don't understand, it can be frustrating for the person trying to make themselves heard — and that frustration is often misread as "behaviour". We believe it's everyone's responsibility to understand how a person communicates, rather than expecting them to learn our way.
Everyone deserves the chance to share their story, using whatever communication tools and supports work best for them.
What we do
Most of our work is in behaviour support and improved relationships — supporting people with complex needs so they have a voice that others can hear. Often it's not the person's behaviour that's the issue, but how they're understood, and a big part of the job is helping everyone around them rethink how they do things.
About us
Unparalleled Solutions was founded by Jamie Smith, who has worked in the disability sector for more than 40 years — starting as a support worker in the 1980s and going on to become an accommodation general manager before founding the business in 2011. Across all those roles, one thing kept standing out: people and families needed support when it was actually required, not just in office hours.
Jamie has been running the business since 2011, working with individuals, families, disability organisations and aged-care facilities. Nearly all of that work comes by recommendation — the business runs on its reputation.
Jamie also facilitates an unfunded peer group that brings people together to build friendships, grow social skills, and simply have fun.

Unparalleled Solutions also provides training for staff teams. Jamie is qualified in training and assessing, and delivers practical, one-day packages your team can put to work straight away.

Jamie was first recommended to us 7 years ago as a consultant to help transition our 30-year-old son, who has an intellectual disability and autism, with the move from our family home into supported accommodation. This had proved to be a very challenging process, as our son had become extremely anxious and was simply refusing to relocate.
Jamie's patience and determination were very important components in this process and these skills were ultimately put to the test when our son had a breakdown and was hospitalised, suffering from polydipsia and a range of serious health consequences that followed. At this time of crisis none of the established services were able to help us. It was Jamie who stepped in with hands on assistance and then used his wealth of experience and knowledge to find emergency care for our son following his stay in hospital. He guided us through what was a traumatic experience for our son and indeed our entire family.
Three months later when our son's health had improved and stabilised to the point where he could finally be transitioned into independent living in his own house with a live-in carer, Jamie was again there to help guide the process, with practical ideas, staff training and ongoing support for our family.
Jamie's calm and reassuring demeanour, combined with his flexibility and availability at all hours, continues to provide our family with the assurance that we have the ongoing support of the highest quality for our son.
